The Little Inn Garden
Tucked behind our historic country inn on Bayfield’s Heritage Main Street is our private garden, a green oasis of shade and calm. Where coach horses once grazed and rested, this exclusive seasonal space is ideal for small parties and family get-togethers during the warmer months.

The Little Inn Verandah
Bayfield has (probably) the best sunsets on the east shore of Lake Huron. One of the best places (we’d actually say THE best but we’re biased!) is from our historic inn’s traditional verandah.
A classic feature of our local Ontario architecture, the verandah wraps around the original inn buildings. With its shade and elevated position above Main Street, it’s the perfect place to just sit, sip a sundowner cocktail and watch the sun dip down into the shimmering waters of the lake. It’s just a short stroll downstairs to dinner too!
It’s also a great place to sit and watch the world go by. You can image the carriages arriving from Sarnia and from the north, pulling up at the inn’s front door, with stable hands rushing out to hitch the horses (the hitching posts are still there out front).
Our verandah isn’t available for hire, so everyone can enjoy it at any time of the day. Some of our Original hotel rooms has direct access too. (link). Please note that our heritage buildings do not have an elevator, so access to the second floor verandah is via a staircase only.

“This place is a real gem! The bed was super comfy and the room was absolutely delightful. Some things are showing their age, like chairs but I loved it!!! Staff is friendly and seem to care. What more can you ask for? How about a great meal? Not to worry!! The food is beyond delicious. Every choice the chef makes from offerings to how precisely food is cooked to their presentation. It is just so skillfully done. Hats off to the chef!!! You can’t get better and we travel to France and Italy often enough! We are accustomed to good food. Definitely coming back!”

Since we were celebrating, we even shared all 3 desserts, which were out of this world. Given the time of year, we were also very keen to hear the ghost stories from this old historical building. The pace is relaxed and comfortable. The setting is a throwback to a simpler time when this inn was a stop for the horse-drawn stage coaches. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very attractive and a large, comfortable space.”
