Celebrate the arts of theatre and cuisine. From ancient Greece to the new world, food and how it is prepared and tastes has kept man harvesting, cooking and creating. Every country has its indigenous foods and recipes. The culinary portion will feature the foods and tastes of the five regions of Canada: The Maritimes, Quebec, Ontario, The Prairies and British Columbia. Learn how to source food on the local level, reducing your own carbon footprint. Find out what's availalbe in your own neighbourhood and how to adapt to the food rhythms of the seasons. Discover local history, enjoy picnic lunches and guided nature walks. Theatre workshops conducted by an Art Director will relate to the three plays we will attend at the Stratford Festival. Classes will enhance the level of comprehension of each play outlining the various communication skills and techniques used by the playwright, actors, and directors.

Most plays will be matinees. The art director will present the educational components of the program focusing not only on the plays but on any theatrical production, giving you three different views: writer, director and actor.

Discover the magic of theatre through play-oriented sessions and visit the renowned Stratford Festival Theatre. Morning workshops will enhance the level of comprehension of the plays included in the program. Learn communication skills and techniques used on stage by the playwright, the actors and the directors. Discuss staging, wardrobe, makeup, wigs and shoes with an expert - art director Jim Schaeffer. Experience the theatre from a different perspective! Evening guest speakers relate local history.

August 24-29: Includes two presentations at the Stratford Festival (one Shakespeare) plus a visit to the Blyth Festival Theatre for a Canadian comedy and a musical production at the Huron Country Playhouse.
